PNN – CBS reported that, following the Republicans’ disastrous defeats in the U.S. congressional elections, Trump has asked his close advisors whether the Secretary of Defense should remain in his position.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing CBS, several informed sources state that in the wake of the Republicans’ disastrous losses in the U.S. congressional midterm elections, President Donald Trump has asked close advisors—and also inquired during telephone conversations—whether Secretary of Defense Pete Hegset should remain in his post.
Some White House aides have predicted that part of the reason for the Republicans’ defeat in the midterm elections will be attributed to Admiral Brad Cooper—commander of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)—and General Dan Keane, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; both of whom played a significant role in developing strategies for an aggression against Iran.
However, other sources told CBS that the President has not yet made a decision regarding a replacement for Hegseth.
CBS added that Democrats had sought to impeach Hegseth even before the congressional elections; now, given their solid majority in both chambers, the likelihood of an attempt to impeach him could increase.
