Al-Akhbar: The Iranian earthquake destroyed everything Trump had built over a decade.

Al-Akhbar

PNN – The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar has attributed Donald Trump’s defeat in the U.S. elections to an “Iranian earthquake”—a force that will continue to haunt him.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; amidst ongoing analysis by regional and international observers regarding the U.S. election results—and the heavy defeat suffered by President Donald Trump and the Republican Party—the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar published an article titled “The Worst Days for Trump and Netanyahu.” The piece argues that the U.S. midterm elections were not merely a contest between Republicans and Democrats for seats in the House of Representatives, the Senate, or state governorships.

The “Iranian earthquake” destroyed everything Trump had built over the course of a decade.

In fact, this election appeared to be a clear referendum on Trump himself and his unique persona—a blend of a president characterized by crude racism, criminality, and greed, and a clown who, throughout his long, media-saturated presidency, has become highly adept at leveraging controversy to promote his agenda.

What occurred in the United States was nothing short of an earthquake—one that shattered everything Trump had sought to build: from his initial presidential victory in 2016 and his subsequent leadership of the Republican opposition following his 2020 election defeat (which he never accepted), to his eventual return to the White House in the 2024 election.

It was an “Iranian earthquake” that leveled everything Trump had constructed, leaving nothing in its wake—though Trump attempted to downplay its impact by acknowledging that the war involving Iran played only a partial role, while citing rising fuel prices and the high cost of living as the decisive factors.

In an attempt to explain his defeat, Trump also implicitly sought to shift some of the blame for inflation onto the Democrats—citing, in particular, the war in Ukraine and its impact on the prices of gasoline and food.

Furthermore, the outcome of the U.S. election reflects an unprecedented shift in the level of support for the Zionist regime within the country, indicating that American citizens are no longer willing to entrust the reins of their nation to Israel.

A Global Shift Extending Beyond the U.S. in the Wake of a Potential War with Iran

The transformation we are witnessing today is global in scope. The contours of this shift actually began to emerge some time ago in Europe—most notably in France, which is currently gripped by protests against the deteriorating living conditions resulting from ongoing wars.

Even within the Zionist regime, we have seen unprecedented developments: Arab citizens played an extraordinary role, and Arab political parties succeeded in securing 19 seats for the first time.

However, beyond the general results of the U.S. elections, these outcomes carried highly significant messages. For instance, the remarkable victory of Abdul El-Sayed—a Muslim candidate—in Michigan clearly demonstrated the scale of this shift.

Abdul El-Sayed managed to defeat his Republican opponent, Mike Rogers, even though Trump had been aggressively targeting him over the preceding weeks.

The victory of Abbas Alawieh, who hails from southern Lebanon, in securing a seat in the Michigan State Senate was equally significant. Together with Abdul El-Sayed, they have come to represent Michigan in the Senate, becoming the first two Muslims to enter that chamber.

On the other hand, the loss of the South Carolina Senate seat by Darlene Graham—sister of the criminal Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who died a few months earlier—was an equally significant defeat for Trump.

These results indicate that Trump must answer to the American people for entangling the United States in a reckless and costly war with Iran—a conflict instigated by and for the sake of the Israeli regime—a war that American voters have deemed entirely futile and deeply damaging.

Furthermore, the U.S. elections will have a substantial impact on upcoming elections across the Western world, most notably the French presidential election next spring.

Netanyahu: The Biggest Loser of the U.S. Election

However, the biggest loser of the U.S. election is Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces the worst possible conclusion to his political career—a fate that will likely end in prison. In other words, Trump’s defeat seals the fate of Netanyahu, who had staked his political survival on Trump’s support.

This is because Trump—now a weakened president—could pressure Netanyahu’s rivals to join a domestic unity cabinet; a feat that proved impossible even when Trump was at the height of his power.

Trump Would Suffer an Even Heavier Defeat in Any New War with Iran

Although Trump—following the announcement of the election results and his concession of defeat—resumed an insolent tone, claiming that his decision to wage war against Iran was correct and that he might do so again, it is clear that should he reignite a conflict with Iran, he would emerge even weaker than before and suffer an even more crushing defeat.

In general, while all U.S. administrations over the past decades have pursued a criminal course of action globally—consistently prioritizing support for the Zionist regime and its atrocities—the stance taken by American citizens this time against the misguided policies of the Republican administration under Trump represents a step in the right direction.

In general, the struggle over America’s new identity is likely to be intense throughout the remaining two years of the current presidential term. Even getting rid of Netanyahu and Trump will not bring an end to the wars that began on October 7th—wars that have created realities with which their successors will have to contend, exactly as they are. Therefore, we must await the outcome of the current battle to see what the future holds.
