PNN – Al Jazeera covered the farewell ceremony for Iran’s martyred leader and noted the presence of international delegations at the event.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Al Jazeera reported on the funeral ceremony held in Tehran for Iran’s martyred leader, noting that the country is expected to witness the largest funeral procession in its history. The first day of the ceremony began on Thursday with the late leader’s casket placed before the gathered crowd; mourning chants echoed through the area, and some attendees tossed flowers toward the crowd.

Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezishkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, also paid their respects to the late leader. International participation in the ceremony falls into three categories: first, the general public who have traveled to Tehran from across the globe; second, prominent figures, academics, religious scholars, media representatives, and members of resistance groups; and third, official delegations.

The aforementioned ceremony saw the arrival of several high-ranking officials at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla to bid farewell to the remains of the late leader, including Iraqi President Nizar Amidi, Iraqi Parliament Speaker Hebat al-Halbousi, President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, and Georgian President Mikheil Kavelishvili.

Furthermore, Ahmad Vahidi—a commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—attended the ceremony, marking a rare public appearance for him since the war.

The list of attendees included Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council; Cevdet Yılmaz, Vice President of Turkey; and Waleed El-Khereiji, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister; alongside delegations from Qatar, Egypt, and Oman that had come to pay their respects.

Representatives from Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad also attended the ceremony. Families of the martyred Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah—the late Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah—and Imad Mughniyeh—the martyred commander of the Resistance—were also present.
