PNN – The Secretary-General of Iraq’s Al-Nujaba Movement has threatened—in protest against ongoing flight restrictions between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran—to call upon the Iraqi people, Husseini *Mawkib* (pilgrim service station) organizers, and pilgrim service providers to stage sit-ins at Iraqi airports if the issue remains unresolved.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al-Mayadeen on Friday night, Sheikh Akram al-Kaabi criticized the continued flight restrictions between Iraq and Iran, demanding their removal and an end to what he termed “American hegemony” over Iraq.
He stated: Speaking of sovereignty while Iraq has been reduced to a small village controlled by the ‘criminal Americans’ represents a double standard, and this situation is unacceptable.
The Secretary-General of Iraq’s Al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement addressed Iraqi political groups across various factions and currents, stating that these regrettable stances are unacceptable.
Al-Kaabi added: How can it be accepted that a Muslim nation is subjected to a blockade by forces described as rebellious, infidel, and criminal? This situation has led to participation in an unjust blockade and prevented millions of citizens from both countries from traveling to visit holy sites, thereby harming Iraq’s economy and spiritual well-being.
Al-Kaabi emphasized that the Al-Nujaba Movement would not wait long; he stated that if this issue remains unresolved—meaning if US dominance does not end and normal flight operations with the Islamic Republic of Iran do not resume—they would call upon the free people of Iraq, the service processions dedicated to Imam Hussein (AS), and the pilgrims of Imam Reza (AS) to prepare for sit-ins at Iraqi airports in order to overturn this unjust, US-imposed decision.
These remarks followed Iraq’s announcement regarding the imposition of restrictions on flights to and from Iran.
