PNN – A prominent Arab expert emphasized that violating the ceasefire carries consequences for the entire region that will ultimately rebound on the United States.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Brigadier General Omar Maarbouni—a Lebanese expert and analyst specializing in regional strategic and military affairs—commented on recent developments, including U.S. acts of aggression and ceasefire violations followed by Iran’s retaliatory response. He stated that the United States has failed to achieve its objectives regarding Iran; furthermore, he noted that these recent events—occurring amidst field and political balances that have established new rules of engagement in the region—demonstrate Washington’s inability to impose its will.
In an interview with the Al-Masirah website, Brigadier General Ma’rabouni stated that Iran’s positions are grounded in power dynamics dictated by realities on the ground—factors that have made it increasingly difficult for the U.S. to achieve its objectives or compel Tehran to make concessions through military and economic pressure.
He added that the recent memorandum of understanding between Iran and the U.S. has helped establish clearer rules of engagement and defines the framework for interaction between the two sides at this stage. Any violation of these understandings would open the door to a fresh escalation of tensions, for which the U.S. would bear responsibility.
This Lebanese expert stated that the US and its allies sought to subjugate Iran politically and militarily; however, the outcome of the recent conflict demonstrated that this objective was not achieved. Instead, Tehran managed to uphold its principles and strengthen its negotiating position by leveraging its military and regional power assets.
He noted that the current situation is characterized by mutual caution: Washington is attempting to manage the crisis without allowing it to escalate into an all-out confrontation, while Iran insists that it will respond firmly to any act of aggression, whether minor or major.
This regional military and strategic affairs expert emphasized that continued U.S. rhetoric and threats will not alter the prevailing reality; the balance of power established in the region following the recent conflict no longer permits the imposition of any dictates upon Iran, and any attempt to circumvent existing understandings would escalate regional tensions—a move that would ultimately backfire on the United States and its allies. Therefore, it is in the American interest to adhere to the agreement.
