Atwan: Iran’s plan defeats the US-Israeli scheme / Riyadh should take a lesson.

PNN – Warning Riyadh about a new trap set by Tel Aviv, Atwan stated that Iran’s initiative would defeat the sinister plot hatched by the US and Israel.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Abdul Bari Atwan—editor-in-chief of the pan-Arab online newspaper Rai al-Youm and a prominent Palestinian analyst—dedicated his latest editorial to recent regional developments, including the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. He wrote that he was not surprised by recent reports in various Zionist media outlets indicating that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the occupying regime, is seeking—with US mediation—to persuade Saudi Arabia to allow Israel to intervene in the ongoing conflict between the Kingdom and Yemen.

Netanyahu’s Aim behind Shedding Crocodile Tears for the Saudis!

Atwan added that the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz—which published these revelations—reported that Netanyahu’s objective in issuing a statement of condolence to Saudi Arabia via his Twitter account, following the death of 13 people and the injury of hundreds more in a Yemeni missile attack on Riyadh airport, was to exploit the situation to expand ties with the Kingdom, conclude a formal normalization agreement, and pave the way for its inclusion in the normalization pacts known as the Abraham Accords.

He emphasized that the information published by Zionist media confirms what we had previously stated in articles and videos: that US President Donald Trump, at Israel’s instigation, poured fuel on the fire of the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Sana’a government—whether by intensifying the blockade on Yemen, bombing Sana’a Airport, or inflaming the war between the two sides.

The article continues: A defeated Netanyahu seeks revenge against both parties—Yemen and Saudi Arabia. In solidarity with resistance fighters in Gaza, Yemen targeted the heart of occupied Palestine—specifically Haifa and Tel Aviv—with hypersonic missiles and cluster warheads, while also devastating the port of Eilat and rendering it inoperable. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has not yet formally joined normalization agreements with the Zionist regime.

The editor-in-chief of the Rai al-Youm newspaper noted that Zionist media have reported that 90 percent of the Saudi population—and perhaps even more—are strongly opposed to establishing any relations with Israel. Of course, this is a well-known fact that requires no confirmation from these newspapers or others; at the same time, Saudi Arabia must align itself with the sentiments of its people.

The US Will Be the Biggest Loser

According to this analysis, Trump—whom Netanyahu lured into the quagmire of a war with Iran—failed to achieve any of his objectives, ranging from regime change in Iran and the destruction of its nuclear program to gaining control over the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Trump believes that stoking the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen will weaken and exhaust Iran, dragging it—directly or indirectly—into a sectarian conflict with Saudi Arabia.

Abdel Bari Atwan noted that Trump also believes this scenario would weaken Iran, thereby creating a fresh opportunity for the U.S. to attack the country; however, reality has thus far proven vastly different from Trump’s assumptions.

The Palestinian writer continued: The U.S. is the biggest loser here, in terms of both its credibility and its military might—both regionally and globally. U.S.-made interceptor missiles, such as THAAD and Patriot systems, failed dismally to shoot down the Yemeni missiles; the vast majority of the latter successfully struck their targets deep within Saudi airports in Riyadh, Dammam, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan, and Najran.

The article further emphasizes that, above all, Trump completely ignored the request from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for Washington’s direct involvement in the war against Yemen—a request consistent with the joint defense pact between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia—and merely remarked that the Yemenis were doing “very wrong things” and that this was “not good at all.”

Iran’s Initiative Thwarts Sinister US-Zionist Plot

Atwan went on to discuss the recent telephone conversation between Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan. He stated that, in this context, Araghchi’s proposal to facilitate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen—aimed at achieving a political solution and avoiding military options—stands out as the best proposal put forward on the matter, particularly given the absence of any Arab mediators.

According to this note, all parties—and Saudi Arabia in particular—must bear in mind that the United States, amidst the Gaza war and while the Yemenis had entered the conflict in support of the Palestinian people, was compelled to reach a ceasefire agreement with Sana’a to protect its aircraft carriers and warships, some of which had been targeted and damaged by Yemeni missiles.

Saudi Arabia Should Learn from Its Allies’ Betrayals

The editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm noted that both the Yemeni and Saudi sides must respond to Iran’s proposal and return to the negotiating table as soon as possible, as this move would defeat the toxic American-Zionist plot. Furthermore, the relevant parties—including Saudi Arabia—must fully adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement and address each other’s objectives and demands.

In conclusion, we express our appreciation to Iran and to Mr. Araghchi—who took the initiative to contact his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, and proposed mediation to halt this war—and we hope that Saudi Arabia will learn a lesson from the repeated betrayals by all its purported allies (whether Arab, Muslim, or Western—particularly the Americans, who have offered nothing but hypocritical statements and left the Saudis to face their fate alone) and reverse this grave mistake.
