Atwan: Why can’t Trump attack Iran?

Atwan

PNN – Pointing to the reasons behind Trump’s fear of launching a new attack on Iran, Abdel Bari Atwan wrote that, in the event of a war, Tehran would sink three U.S. warships and 20 other naval vessels, and raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Abdel Bari Atwan, an analyst of regional strategic affairs, examined in an article the extent of Iran’s preparations to confront a potential and imminent aggression by a U.S.-Zionist coalition. He noted that Tehran has demonstrated its political, media, and psychological capabilities.

Atwan discusses Iran’s threat to deploy the “father of missiles” in the event of potential aggression by the Zionist regime, as well as the appointment of General Mehrdad Akhlaghi as Minister of Defense—a man who has dedicated 42 years to overseeing military and missile industries, developing them to their current level of power and modern efficiency. Atwan describes this as a successful choice.

Why is Trump terrified of carrying out his threats against Iran?

Atwan notes that what terrifies Trump—and prevents him from acting on his threats to reignite war against Iran—are the facts laid out before him in the White House and in operations rooms. These can be summarized as follows:

First: A report by the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, which confirms that Tehran possesses the largest arsenal of advanced ballistic missiles in the Middle East.

Second: Over the past eight months of the current conflict, Iran’s military command has focused on the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles—which, as acknowledged by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, are capable of striking United States bases in Europe. It is possible that Washington’s swift withdrawal of all its heavy bombers—specifically the B-2 Spirit and B-52 aircraft—from the Fairford Air Base in the United Kingdom was prompted by Iran’s possession of these very missiles.

Third: Statements by General Hossein Mohebbi, a spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), indicating that since the onset of the current round of conflict, the quality and quantity of Iranian missiles have increased by a factor of 1.5, and their range has likewise expanded by 1.5 times. The range of some of these missiles exceeds 2,000 kilometers, and they are capable of carrying nuclear warheads. This explains how these missiles could reach the American base at Diego Garcia, located in the far reaches of the eastern Indian Ocean.

Fourth: Iran’s new military facilities have been constructed deep within Rocky Mountains, rendering them inaccessible even to America’s “Mother of All Bombs”—a 9.8-ton weapon capable of penetrating 60 meters into the ground.

Fifth: Iran’s missile arsenal comprises a vast array of missiles with varying sizes and ranges—including the Emad, Sejjil, Shahab, and Khorramshahr, as well as the Kheibar (equipped with a cluster warhead) and the hypersonic Fattah. All of these missiles would be deployed should the U.S.-Israeli coalition renew its aggression.

He further stated that Netanyahu is making an intense effort to drag the United States into resuming a war against Iran; he views this as a final attempt to save himself from crises and to avoid spending the rest of his life behind bars.

War Will Not Achieve U.S. and Israeli Objectives

In his concluding remarks, Atwan stated that eight months of U.S.-led warmongering—employing a wide array of weaponry—failed to realize any of the objectives sought by Trump and Netanyahu. Foremost among these goals were the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the starvation of the Iranian nation to the point of triggering popular uprisings. We believe that any new act of aggression will likewise fail to achieve these long-standing objectives; on the contrary, it will be Iran’s missiles that destroy or neutralize three U.S. aircraft carriers and approximately 20 other warships. More significantly, they will lay waste to what remains of Tel Aviv, Haifa, Eilat, Safed, and Ashkelon.
