PNN – An Austrian university professor of political science stated that Iran is a powerful nation, dominant in the region, and the major winner of the conflict initiated by the U.S. president.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Doug Stokes, speaking to the Austrian news agency APA about the tensions between Tehran and Washington, noted that Iran is poised to reclaim the role it has held for millennia; notably, prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the country was a key pillar of U.S. power in the Middle East.
Stokes believes that the resulting pressures and tensions have—contrary to expectations—backfired, ultimately strengthening Iran.
The Austrian professor continues: Iran will emerge from the current situation in a position of great strength; the ongoing tensions have demonstrated that the country will not allow even the world’s most powerful military force—the United States—to bring it to its knees.
He adds that Iran is highly successful in driving the United States out of the Middle East, noting that attacks on U.S. allies in the region are causing the cost of maintaining these alliances to rise sharply for the United States.
The professor from Modul University Vienna states: The post-1979 revolutionary era has been merely a transitional period, paving the way for Iran to return to its rightful place.
He continues: At present, there is no way for the United States to bring this war to a victorious conclusion on terms acceptable to itself.
The political science professor adds: To reach an agreement (through diplomacy), Tehran will demand recognition as the leading power in the region.
According to Stokes, whether the Americans accept this or not, they will be driven out of the Middle East.
He adds: This alters the calculations of all leading regional powers—including Israel and Turkey—and what is taking shape is a post-American security order in the Middle East.
This political science professor states that the war demonstrated that the use of military force without a broader strategy is “futile.”
According to Stokes: The United States’ biggest problem is arguably Trump’s completely unpredictable approach. He views international politics not only as a ‘zero-sum game’ but also fails to honor agreements. This applies not just to Iran, but also to countries like Canada or the European Union.
He notes: One cannot rely on what Trump says or does. He is deliberately dismantling the global order—an order largely built by the United States that has yielded immense benefits for the country over the past decades.
