PNN – Axios has claimed that Trump has gradually distanced himself from Netanyahu in light of regional developments.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Axios reported—citing informed sources—that U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet announced his support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the upcoming elections.
These sources claimed that during the initial weeks of the war against Iran, Trump’s close advisors were confident he would support Netanyahu; however, as the war faltered and disagreements over foreign policy—regarding not only Iran but also Lebanon and Gaza—widened, he gradually distanced himself from the Israeli leader. In private conversations, Trump has described Netanyahu as his own worst enemy and expressed frustration with his decisions and policies.
The report claims that Netanyahu’s public opposition to the peace council plan—proposed by Trump to disarm Hamas in Gaza—marks the latest in a series of disagreements between the two men. However, the White House characterized Netanyahu’s remarks as part of election-related politics rather than a final policy stance.
Meanwhile, observers believe that the decline in Netanyahu’s popularity in opinion polls may be the reason for Trump’s hesitation to publicly declare his support for him.
