BBC Admits Britain’s Inability to Counter Long-Range Ballistic Missiles

Long-Range

PNN – A British news outlet has acknowledged that the country lacks a system capable of countering long-range ballistic missiles and hypersonic weapons.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the BBC reported that the conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran has demonstrated that even the world’s most advanced air defense systems can be overwhelmed when faced with a massive barrage of enemy missiles and drones.

The report notes that Iranian projectiles have penetrated the air defense layers protecting US military bases in the Middle East, inflicting significant damage.

The report adds: Russia’s war in Ukraine has also revealed the immense challenge of defending its airspace against large-scale attacks.

According to the report, the UK currently possesses a number of systems to counter short- and medium-range threats, ranging from drones to cruise missiles. However, its armed forces still lack a system capable of countering long-range ballistic missiles and hypersonic missiles—and such systems are not cheap.

The BBC reported that it would be virtually impossible for the UK, with such limited resources, to develop an air defense system capable of protecting the entire country.
