PNN – US Senator Bernie Sanders stated that the pro-Israel lobby in the United States has earmarked $233 million to defeat candidates who have spoken out against Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Anadolu Agency; US Senator Bernie Sanders warned that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) plans to spend $233 million to defeat candidates who have criticized the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in this year’s midterm elections.
Sanders wrote on the social media platform X that the pro-Israel lobbying group in the United States plans to spend $233 million to defeat candidates who have “dared” to speak out against Netanyahu’s extremist government.
He added: They spent $33 million against Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan primary and lost—and they will lose again.
Anadolu reported that, in this year’s Senate race, El-Sayed has strongly opposed unconditional U.S. military aid to Israel and has been a critic of the Netanyahu government’s policies in Gaza and the West Bank.
Sanders added: U.S. military aid to Israel must stop.
Anadolu continued: Polls indicate that in the U.S. midterm congressional elections taking place on November 3, Democrats generally have a better chance of winning the House of Representatives and possibly the Senate.
As American public opinion toward the Israeli regime deteriorates—particularly in the wake of the war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza—many Democratic candidates running in this year’s elections have adopted a tougher stance on the policies of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government; policies that critics say aim to displace Palestinians and destroy any prospect for peace in the Middle East.
