PNN – CNN explained in a report: Iran is seeking a new power source deep in the Strait of Hormuz; cables that carry massive internet and financial traffic and Tehran want to collect fees from them.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, CNN announced in a report: Iran is seeking a new source of power deep in the Strait of Hormuz.
The television network announced in this regard: Emboldened by its wartime success in blocking the Strait of Hormuz (US-Zionist aggression against Iran), Iran has turned to one of the hidden arteries of the global economy: the undersea cables that carry massive amounts of internet and financial traffic between Europe, Asia and the Persian Gulf. The Islamic Republic wants to charge the world’s biggest tech companies to use the undersea internet cables that run beneath the Strait of Hormuz. Submarine cables form the backbone of global connectivity, carrying a large portion of the world’s internet traffic and data. Targeting them has an impact far beyond internet speeds, threatening everything from banking systems, military communications, and AI cloud infrastructure to remote working, online gaming, and streaming services.
CNN then added: Among these routes, two names are attracting more attention than the rest: “Falcon” and “Gulf Bridge International” or GBI; two cables that reportedly cross Iranian territorial waters and play a significant role in connecting the region to the world. Falcon forms part of the Middle East (West Asia) digital communications backbone; a network that connects India, the Persian Gulf countries and routes to Europe. Gulf Bridge is also designed as the first private submarine cable system in the Persian Gulf region with the aim of connecting the Persian Gulf countries to each other and then linking them to Europe, Asia and Africa.
