PNN – An Israeli minister announced that the issue affecting water desalination plants—which have been hit by an algae bloom—has not yet been resolved.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the newspaper Israel Hayom reported today that Israel’s Energy Minister stated that efforts made so far have failed to achieve significant progress in altering the turbidity levels of the water at the treatment plants.
According to this Zionist minister, water desalination plants in Ashkelon and Ashdod are currently completely shut down, while the Palmachim and Sorek facilities are operating at partial capacity.
Eli Cohen, the Zionist regime’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, acknowledged on Monday that the crisis affecting water desalination plants has not yet been resolved, noting that a special test recently conducted at sea failed to yield the expected results.
The minister publicly acknowledged that, since the water-spraying trial at sea, officials have observed no noteworthy changes in the condition of the algae, explaining that no perceptible shift in turbidity levels has been recorded to date.
According to the minister, clearer and more precise results regarding the effects of the aerial trial are expected within the next two days; however, experts currently lack a precise assessment of when the algal phenomenon will completely disappear from the sea.
In his remarks, this Netanyahu cabinet minister dismissed any link between the algae bloom and the discharge of sewage from the Gaza Strip into the Mediterranean—caused by the shutdown of treatment facilities there during the conflict.
He claimed that, according to expert sources, the algae originated in Egypt’s Nile Delta, and their movement across borders is clearly visible in satellite imagery.
Despite the concerning data and the complex situation at sea, Eli Cohen sought to reassure the public, emphasizing that the situation is fully under control.
However, it was reported that the primary source of water supply in Israel is currently pumping from the Sea of Galilee—an indication that desalination plants have been taken offline.
In this regard, it was acknowledged that of the five water desalination facilities in Israel (Occupied Palestine), four have either ceased operations or are running at minimal capacity, with only the Hadera plant operating at full capacity.
