PNN – Hezbollah’s suicide drones have become one of the most significant challenges facing the Israeli army in the battles in southern Lebanon.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; media outlets and officials of the Zionist regime are increasingly acknowledging that Hezbollah’s suicide drones have emerged as a major challenge for the Israeli military in the fighting in southern Lebanon, impacting Tel Aviv’s military and political calculations.

In a report, Foreign Policy cited an unnamed Israeli military official describing these drones as a “gold mine” for Hezbollah; the official noted that the weapons are cheap, simple, and highly effective, and that the Israeli military has yet to find an effective countermeasure. According to the official, Israel’s current measures are largely reactive, limited to the use of protective netting, small arms, and shelters.

According to a report by the Alma Center for Security Studies in Israel, between April 17 and June 20, Hezbollah carried out 1,163 operations against Israeli army positions and forces, 637 of which involved the use of drones—representing nearly 55 percent of all operations. These figures indicate that drones have become one of the Resistance’s primary tools on the battlefield.

Advance into Lebanon Driven by Inability to Contain Drones

The Israeli official also acknowledged that one of the reasons for expanding the Israeli military’s presence in southern Lebanon was the effort to counter the threat posed by Hezbollah’s drones. He stated that Tel Aviv was compelled to extend the so-called “security zone” and that Israeli military operations would continue as long as this threat persists.

Meanwhile, the Zionist regime has declared the disarmament of Hezbollah a key condition for the complete withdrawal of its forces from southern Lebanon—a condition Hezbollah has repeatedly rejected, insisting that the resistance’s weapons will be retained as long as occupation and aggression persist.

Drones Have Changed the Calculus of War

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem had previously emphasized in a speech that the Resistance’s drones have left the Israeli army “dizzy” and demonstrated that the regime—despite possessing state-of-the-art defense systems—is vulnerable to low-cost yet effective technologies.

Nicholas Blanford, a researcher specializing in Lebanese affairs, has also acknowledged that Hezbollah’s performance in this conflict has revitalized the narrative of “Resistance” and instilled a renewed sense of confidence in the movement.

Ongoing Israeli Aggression and Humanitarian Crisis in Lebanon

While Israeli officials cite the threat posed by Hezbollah drones as the reason for continuing their military operations, the regime’s extensive attacks have inflicted heavy damage on Lebanon. According to published figures, Israeli airstrikes have so far resulted in over 4,200 deaths, more than 12,000 injuries, and the displacement of over one million people in Lebanon—statistics that reflect the war’s profound humanitarian consequences.
