PNN – Referring to regional developments and the negotiation process, the former Israeli war minister announced that Iran currently has the “superior hand” in the regional balance of power.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Moshe Ya’alon, the former Israeli defense minister, criticized the process of a possible agreement between the United States and Iran, saying that in the current situation, the balance is in Iran’s favor and that this agreement could have strategic consequences.
In an interview with the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Ya’alon said that US President Donald Trump is seeking, above all else, to reach an agreement that appears more successful than the agreement of the Barack Obama era.
Referring to the results of recent developments, he acknowledged that Iran is in a superior position, that Iran has not only not escaped this weak process, but has also been able to withstand widespread pressure.
The former Israeli Minister of War also stated that if economic pressures are reduced and Iran has access to financial resources, there is a possibility that Iran will follow a different path in the nuclear field; a claim that Iranian officials have always rejected and emphasized that the country’s nuclear program is peaceful in nature and that the production of nuclear weapons has no place in the Islamic Republic’s doctrine.
Ya’alon continued: Trump has a strong political motivation to reach an agreement, and his goal is to present an agreement that is considered politically better than the Obama administration’s agreement, but there is no sign of such superiority.
In another part of his remarks, he also addressed the situation in the West Bank and criticized the performance of the Israeli security agencies towards extremist settlers, saying: What is happening in this region is worrying.
He said that during his field visit, he encountered cases of violence, shooting, and martyrdom of Palestinians, and that no effective response was given to these incidents.
