PNN – The former US ambassador to the occupied territories admitted to the consolidation of Iran’s power after the war and the miscalculations of Trump and Netanyahu.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Financial Times newspaper quoted Dan Shapiro, the former US ambassador to the occupied territories, as saying: Trump and Netanyahu exaggerated their power estimates and destroyed the best strategic position available.
He added: By agreeing to sign the agreement with Iran, Trump showed his willingness to retreat and play a weaker role in the Middle East.
Shapiro admitted that the next US president would be less prepared to enter a similar military conflict.
He continued: Trump and Netanyahu had counted on internal unrest in Iran after the first war. They thought the Iranian regime was weakened and ready to collapse, but this prediction proved wrong, as Iran emerged from the war stronger than before, and the war strengthened its position.
