PNN – In a report noting that the American aerospace company Boeing opposes granting licenses to other countries for the production of the Patriot missile’s key “seeker” component, the German newspaper Die Welt stated that this stance has rendered the plan to manufacture these missiles in Ukraine impossible.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Die Welt noted that the production process for Patriot missiles is highly complex, requiring the establishment of a complete supply chain, the acquisition of manufacturing licenses, and the construction of a factory.

The report adds that manufacturing the Patriot missile’s key “seeker” component is a technically complex and time-consuming process.

According to the report, Boeing—the manufacturer of these components—is firmly opposed to transferring their production licenses to third countries.

U.S. President Donald Trump had previously announced that Washington would provide Ukraine with the license to produce Patriot air defense systems.

During a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Ankara, the U.S. President announced that the United States would grant Ukraine the license to produce Patriot air defense systems.

During the meeting, Trump told Zelensky: One of the topics we will discuss is granting you a license to produce the Patriot system. That’s very interesting, isn’t it? This way, he can no longer complain that we aren’t providing him with enough Patriot systems.

The Patriot system (MIM-104 Patriot) is a mobile surface-to-air missile system designed to detect, intercept, and destroy a wide range of aerial threats, including aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

Trump did not provide further details regarding the timeline or conditions for granting this license, nor the specifics of how these systems would be manufactured in Ukraine.
