PNN – Yair Golan, leader of “The Democrats” party in occupied Palestine, launched a scathing attack on Benjamin Netanyahu, asserting that the Israeli Prime Minister is exploiting “security” concerns to cling to power and obstruct the electoral process out of fear of defeat.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing the Quds Network; Golan stated that political factions can no longer trust Netanyahu’s claims that his recent decisions are free from political motives.
Questioning the sincerity of the occupying regime’s Prime Minister, he noted that these claims contradict the actual facts on the ground.
Golan also issued a stern warning regarding the consequences of persisting with this approach, emphasizing that Netanyahu must under no circumstances be allowed to use the issue of “Israel’s security” as a pretext to prevent the holding of elections.
Israel’s general election is scheduled for October 27—a pivotal event for the political future of Netanyahu, who faces allegations of corruption, authoritarianism, and failure.
The current cabinet, regarded as the most right-wing in Israel’s history, has been led by Netanyahu since late December 2022; he is currently facing prosecution by the International Criminal Court for war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip.
Opinion polls measuring the popularity of potential candidates for the premiership show that Netanyahu’s rivals continue to hold the lead. Specifically, 48 percent of respondents prefer Eisenkot over Netanyahu, while 39 percent support Netanyahu, and 13 percent expressed no opinion.
Meanwhile, 43 percent of participants favor Bennett for the role of prime minister; in contrast, 39 percent prefer the incumbent, Netanyahu, over Bennett, while 15 percent offered no opinion.
