PNN – A war against Iran has effectively become a gift to China, as it has severely undermined U.S. deterrence capabilities in Asia.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; this assessment was published today, Sunday, by the Hebrew-language news and analysis site Walla, which emphasized that the erosion of U.S. power—described as a “terrorist state”—following the war against Iran is evident across various parts of Asia.
The analysis continues: Heightened tensions between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea have sparked growing doubts among U.S. allies in Asia regarding Washington’s ability to curb Beijing’s expansionism—particularly at a time when the war involving the U.S. and the Israeli military against Iran is consuming U.S. military capabilities.
Citing reports from U.S. media, the outlet noted that nations in the region fear that a shortage of U.S. weaponry and the country’s preoccupation with the Middle East could limit Washington’s response in the event of a conflict with China.
These concerns have intensified following the most dangerous confrontation in recent years at Second Thomas Shoal—a disputed area in the South China Sea.
The Philippines is attempting to assert its sovereignty over the area by stationing troops on a grounded vessel; it secured a favorable international court ruling a decade ago, though China does not recognize it. Last month, a Chinese coast guard vessel began circling the Sierra Madre, the grounded ship. According to U.S. and Philippine officials, during the confrontation, Chinese coast guard personnel approached the Filipino troops in small boats and struck one of them with a wooden club, causing a head injury.
China has accused the Philippines of the provocative actions that led to this incident.
