PNN – The American Automobile Association (AAA) announced in a statement that, on the day of the Congressional elections, gasoline and diesel prices are 38 percent and 70 percent higher, respectively, compared to last year.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al Jazeera, the American Automobile Association (AAA) stated on Tuesday that gasoline prices on the day of the U.S. Congressional midterm elections are approximately 38 percent higher than they were a year ago.

The AAA further reported that diesel prices today—on Election Day—are about 70 percent higher than they were last year.

According to Anadolu, an analysis by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) indicates that an oil shock—stemming from disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz—has imposed an additional $468 billion in fuel costs on consumers worldwide. The United States’ share of this total is approximately $160 billion, or roughly one-third of the overall amount.

Meanwhile, a survey released on October 30 by the U.S.-based Pew Research Center reveals that 74% of Americans are very concerned about the price of gasoline and energy—a figure that stood at 60% in July and 43% in January.

It is worth noting that following the American-Zionist aggression against Iranian territory and the creation of instability in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the prices of energy carriers in the United States and globally rose sharply.
