PNN – While US officials claim the Strait of Hormuz remains open, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has announced that approximately 6,000 seafarers aboard 400 ships are stranded in the Strait.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; CBS News quoted IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez as saying that roughly 6,000 seafarers on 400 vessels are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that the war continues to cause major disruptions to vital supply chains.
The IMO Secretary-General warned of the global consequences of supply chain disruptions should the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz persist.
Even though the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization and officials from other specialized maritime bodies acknowledge that the Strait of Hormuz is open, US President Donald Trump believes he can reopen it simply by posting messages online declaring it to be open.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov responded today to Trump’s messages regarding the status of the Strait of Hormuz, stating: The Strait of Hormuz was completely open prior to US and Israeli aggression against Iran, and there was no talk of imposing transit fees for the waterway until the US and Israel initiated their adventurism.
