PNN – Iran’s mission to the United Nations accused the United States and its Western allies of violating international law.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN stated during a General Assembly meeting on the veto power that the Security Council must uphold the UN Charter and international law, rather than serving the narrow interests of those who violate these laws.
Iran’s mission also characterized the U.S. draft of September 17 as a “baseless” attempt to manipulate the Security Council and revive a mechanism that, according to Iran, had terminated under Resolution 2231. The statement noted that China and Russia vetoed the draft.
The Iranian mission further asserted that the U.S. and its Western allies lack the standing to lecture Iran on non-proliferation and international law, given that they themselves violate international rules and non-proliferation obligations, shield the Israeli regime from accountability, and remain silent regarding its nuclear arsenal.
