PNN – In a final statement issued outside Najaf Airport, the people of Iraq demanded the immediate lifting of the air blockade imposed on Iran.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the people of Najaf held a protest rally and issued an official statement declaring their firm opposition to US interference in Iraq’s internal affairs and the restrictions imposed on flights to and from Iran.
A section of the final statement issued at this protest gathering reads:
A demand for the immediate and unconditional lifting of restrictions on Iranian flights to airports in Iraq.
No official or faction should hinder the presence of Iranian pilgrims and devotees of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) at the holy shrines.
Instead of escalating tensions, the government must fulfill its national responsibilities by relying on expert personnel and move away from crisis-inducing management.
Following the announcement of the recent decision to suspend direct flights between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraqi citizens staged a protest at the entrance to Najaf International Airport.
