PNN – Jeffrey Sachs, a prominent American professor, has described the so-called “Greater Israel” project as a delusional idea destined for failure.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network—amid ongoing analyses within regional and international circles regarding a potential regional war and persistent tensions—Jeffrey Sachs, an American economist, Columbia University professor, and senior advisor to the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the Middle East and Africa, stated in an article titled “Greater Israel Is a Delusional Idea” that the so-called “Greater Israel” project is a delusional and tragic scheme with no fate other than failure and collapse.
In an interview with American judge Andrew Napolitano, Jeffrey Sachs sharply criticized the delusion of absolute military control—a notion held by current officials of the Zionist regime, who believe they can exert such control over all Arab territories “from the river to the sea” and permanently deprive the Palestinian people of their rights.
He added that the current Israeli cabinet believes it can deny the rights of the Palestinian people forever; however, this is impossibility—both historically and morally. Furthermore, the “Greater Israel” project constitutes a catastrophe for everyone involved. Beyond serving as a burden and a political and economic disaster for the United States, it has also become an unmitigated catastrophe for the region and for Israel itself.
Continuing, this senior American researcher addressed the international isolation of the Zionist regime, stating that Israel will ultimately find itself alone in facing the consequences of its policies. He added that the Palestinian cause will endure and cannot be eradicated through military force.
Jeffrey Sachs emphasized that the term “Greater Israel” encompasses intertwined religious, historical, and political dimensions, with its boundaries and interpretations varying depending on the context in which it is used. This concept is rooted in the ideology of Zionism and the notion of the “Promised Land,” envisioning dominion over a region extending from the Nile to the Euphrates.
He noted, however, that in contemporary political discourse, the geographical ambition of Zionism—which once extended from the Nile to the Euphrates—has narrowed; the project known as “Greater Israel” is now focused on establishing absolute and permanent Israeli control over the territory between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, thereby ensuring that an independent Palestinian state is never established.
