Lavrov: Israel does not want rapprochement between Iran and Arab countries/European Union will collapse

Iran and Arab

PNN – The Russian Foreign Minister said that the Zionist regime does not want rapprochement between Iran and Arab countries, and the United States is taking an ambiguous position on this issue.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Sergei Lavrov stated in an interview with Russia Today Arabic on Thursday evening: Israel certainly does not want rapprochement between Iran and Arab countries, and the United States is taking an ambiguous position on this issue.

The Russian Foreign Minister, who gave this interview on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), stated that the United States’ desire to control the oil and energy markets underpins its aggression against Iran, saying: At some point, the Americans proposed a fifty-fifty split between Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. This is again about oil, again about global energy markets, but this will cause significant inconvenience and losses, including for Arab countries, and we are well aware of this.

Lavrov continued: They will look for alternative routes and build new pipelines, but all this requires investment and costs. The natural routes that have served everyone well for decades are now under great danger. Now the Bab al-Mandeb Strait can also create another flashpoint. So the consequences of this aggression are clear to everyone. I sincerely hope that lessons will be learned.

The main goal of the US and Israeli aggression against Iran

The Russian Foreign Minister stated in another part of the interview: One of the main goals of the US and Israeli aggression against Tehran was to disrupt the growing process of good relations between Iran and the Arab countries.

He argued: I have no doubt that one of the goals of this adventurous act was to prevent the process that had begun; the process of rapprochement, the normalization of relations between the Arabs and Iran within the framework of discussions on the future of the Persian Gulf and adjacent territories.

Proposal for dialogue between Iran and the UAE

Sergey Lavrov, emphasizing that dialogue between Iran and the UAE should take place one day, stated: Several other Arab countries are expressing their readiness to negotiate with Tehran. At the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Council meeting held in mid-May, there were fairly serious disagreements between Iran and the UAE, but despite this, both India, as the current chairman, and other BRICS countries that participated in the meeting, tried to find ways to establish dialogue between the UAE and Iran.

He added: This must happen eventually. We see readiness for such a dialogue among a number of other Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia. And of course, those who started this turmoil and adventurism are very unwilling to see reconciliation between the Arabs and Iran; not even reconciliation, but simply normalization of relations.

Ukraine War

The Russian Foreign Minister said that the country is ready to negotiate on Ukraine, saying: We are ready, as Russian President Vladimir Putin has said many times, we are always ready for negotiations, but we do not see any readiness from the other side and, most importantly, we do not see any partner willing to negotiate.

He noted: The inability of the regime that came to power after the February 2014 coup to negotiate does not need to be proven, and even those who cover it, finance it and arm it are well aware of the cost of this regime.

Lavrov added: The Europeans are fighting with such a strong force, simply because he is fighting against the Russian Federation, for the Europeans, for the interests of the West in general, for the idea of the West to suppress Russia as a competitor, which is what they tried to do before World War I and during World War II and many other times. The Crimean War was built by Western countries along the same ideological lines.

The issue of Ukraine’s membership in NATO

The head of Russian diplomacy, emphasizing that if Ukraine becomes a member of the European Union, the union will “collapse”, said: It is easier for Europe to accept Ukraine into NATO than to take the fatal step of including Ukraine in the European Union. In this case, the union will fall apart. They understand this perfectly.

Earlier, the Council of the European Union had begun formal preparations for the start of negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova on EU membership.

Sergey Lavrov further emphasized: Rutte (NATO Secretary General) went to Kiev and there he clearly stated that Ukraine would join NATO, and Rutte simply stated this, hugging Volodymyr Zelensky (Ukrainian President) and saying that Ukraine would join NATO.

He also said: The statements of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the role of the US not as a mediator in the Ukrainian conflict, but as a country supporting the Kiev regime, clearly show that the ‘Biden war’ has actually become the ‘Trump war.’
