PNN – John Mearsheimer stated that Trump has concluded that winning a war against Iran is not possible.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; John Mearsheimer, a renowned professor of international relations, said in an interview that Trump is fond of watching Fox News and derives a significant portion of his information from the network—a factor that, in Mearsheimer’s view, may contribute to the perception among Trump and his inner circle that victory in a war with Iran is achievable.
Mearsheimer went on to say that Trump has concluded that winning a war with Iran is impossible, and for this reason, he acts in a “confused and flustered” manner when faced with the consequences of such a conflict.
Regarding the influence of billionaires on Donald Trump, he stated that Rupert Murdoch—owner of media outlets such as Fox News and The Wall Street Journal—is among those who exert significant influence over the U.S. President.
Pointing to the ongoing contact between Murdoch and Trump, the international relations professor added that Murdoch’s influence is not limited to Fox News alone; the media outlets he owns also play a role in shaping Trump’s foreign policy views.
According to Mearsheimer, The Wall Street Journal adopts a highly hawkish stance on issues such as Iran, the war in Gaza, and the war in Ukraine, and Fox News follows a similar approach.
