Media attention on the massive turnout of millions in Mashhad, despite US acts of aggression.

Mashhad

PNN – Media attention has focused on the targeting of certain railway lines during last night’s US aggression and the massive crowds attending the funeral and burial ceremony of the martyred leader in the holy city of Mashhad.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Al Jazeera published footage showing the massive turnout of Iranians on the streets of Mashhad, noting that vast crowds have gathered in the city as preparations are underway for the martyred leader’s burial ceremony.

Al Jazeera reported that the burial ceremony is taking place in the martyred leader’s hometown following a week of funeral processions, rallies, and mourning ceremonies held across various cities in Iran and Iraq.

Citing the transfer of the martyred leader’s remains from Iraq to Mashhad, Al Jazeera reported that magnificent ceremonies had previously been held in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, and Karbala; according to Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi), more than 2.3 million people participated in the Najaf ceremony alone. Millions also attended the funeral procession in Tehran—an event Iranian officials have described as the largest public gathering in the country’s modern history.

According to Al Jazeera, participants in the Mashhad ceremony—carrying Iranian flags, images of Ayatollah Khamenei, and placards bearing revolutionary slogans—called for retaliation against the United States.

Al Jazeera also reported that, despite US strikes last night targeting the Tehran-Mashhad railway line, Iranian officials stated that the attacks did not disrupt the proceedings.

In addition to Al Jazeera, the Al-Mayadeen network also reported that, despite US-imposed disruptions to certain rail lines, people from across Iran have made their way to Mashhad to participate in the ceremony.

The media outlet Al-Mashhad Al-Yamani has also highlighted this matter.
