PNN – An Iraqi politician stated that the trilateral agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan would collapse in the near future.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Ali al-Fatlawi—a member of the Reconstruction and Development bloc led by former Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani—emphasized that the trilateral agreement among Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, known as the Mecca Agreement, is set to fall apart in the near future.
He stated that the conflicting goals, plans, and intentions of the parties to this agreement would lead to its collapse in the near future.
Noting that the Mecca agreement lacks coherence and alignment of views among the three signatory nations, Al-Fatlawi added that Turkey—under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan—is striving to expand its influence in the Arab world, much as it did in Syria, whereas Saudi Arabia seeks to realize its dream of dominating the Middle East.
He continued: Meanwhile, Pakistan—through its Prime Minister—has called for taking a clear stance and standing up to the Zionist regime; this reflects a glaring contradiction in the perspectives and approaches of the three parties.
Al-Fatlawi noted that this stark contradiction in the views of the parties to the agreement would not sit well with the United States; indeed, differences regarding interests and agendas would serve as the primary driver for the agreement’s rapid collapse.
While Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan seek to present the agreement as a framework for coordination and cooperation, the conflicting regional priorities of these three nations subject it to a real test; given the interplay between Ankara’s regional ambitions, Riyadh’s calculations, and Islamabad’s desire to avoid regional conflicts, the prospects for forming a cohesive and coordinated alliance appear doubtful.
