Monitoring Academic Cooperation among Iran, Russia, and China: The Pentagon’s New Mission

PNN – Academic cooperation involving Iran, China, and Russia has become a new target for Pentagon intelligence and security operations.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; media outlets close to the US government have revealed Pentagon efforts to closely monitor scientific and academic collaboration between Iran, Russia, and China.

Fox News reported that the US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) has ordered 30 top American universities to conduct a comprehensive review of all their scientific, financial, and research collaborations with foreign entities—including 130 research centers in Russia, China, and Iran.

The stated objective of this hostile move by the Pentagon is to prevent the transfer of technology and the use of research from the U.S. academic community by scientific and academic institutions in these three countries.

The universities covered include academic institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Berkeley, NYU, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Duke, UCLA, and Penn State.
