PNN – The Deputy Head of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul Seyed Hassan Mortazavi stated that the expulsion of the United States from Afghanistan and its defeat vis-à-vis Iran have brought Western hegemony closer to decline.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Seyed Hassan Mortazavi, Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul, accompanied by Alireza Marhamati, Iran’s Consul General in Herat, met and held discussions with Noor Ahmad Islam-Jar, the Taliban-appointed governor of the province.
During the meeting, while reviewing the latest developments between Iran and Afghanistan as well as regional issues, Mortazavi remarked: Throughout these years, Westerners and pro-Western factions have sought to incite conflict among Muslim nations, aiming to strengthen the roots of their own influence and colonialism in the region through this fratricide and bloodshed among Muslims.
He added: The masters of power never imagined that one day they would be ignominiously expelled from Afghanistan, and subsequently—following successive defeats at the hands of Islamic Iran—be forced to dismantle their military presence, influence, and colonial hold in the region.
The Iranian deputy ambassador stated: This humiliating expulsion from Afghanistan, followed by the demeaning defeats inflicted by Iran, were two events that brought down Western hegemony and the forces of arrogance at the hands of faithful Muslims, pushing them toward decline and ruin.
Pointing to the emerging economic opportunity, he added: With the absence of US influence and interference in the region, a favorable opportunity has arisen for Muslim nations to foster the development and progress of their territories by forming robust economic alliances.
Mortazavi continued: Guided by this perspective, the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently seeking to expand its economic ties with Afghanistan. Recognizing the importance of rail and road corridors, Iran has expressed its readiness to Afghan officials to develop the necessary rail, road, and customs infrastructure; significant foundational work in these areas is already underway, and the people of both nations will soon witness the benefits.
During the meeting, Iran’s Consul General in Herat highlighted Iran’s efforts to enhance engagement with Afghanistan, stating: With the presence and assistance of Iranian physicians at cardiac surgery and dialysis centers in Herat, we hope that the people of Afghanistan will no longer need to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Pointing to the growing volume of economic exchanges between Iran and Afghanistan, he added: Through persistent follow-up, we are working to resolve customs-related issues at the Islam Qala border and other customs points in western Afghanistan, aiming to facilitate seamless goods transit between the two nations and establish a secure, efficient corridor for cross-border trade.
During the meeting, Islamjar also stated that after years of enduring insecurity and instability, the people of Afghanistan have now embarked on a path toward development and stability amidst relative calm; he added that cooperation with regional countries—particularly neighbors—would accelerate this process.
He noted that the Afghan government is earnestly pursuing economic and corridor-related projects and welcomes and supports cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It is worth noting that plans for the construction of the Herat-Mazar-e-Sharif railway, with the assistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran, are currently on the agenda for both Tehran and Kabul.
