Netanyahu’s project against Iran and the axis of resistance failed

project

PNN – In a report criticizing the policies of the Netanyahu government, the Haaretz newspaper claimed that Tel Aviv’s calculations regarding Iran and its allies were flawed and that some of Israel’s security project in the region had failed.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Following the Zionists’ admissions of the failure of the US and the occupation regime’s goals in the war against Iran and their miscalculations regarding this war, the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz wrote in an article by Lisa Rozovsky, a prominent Zionist writer and analyst, that almost a year ago, a month after the start of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in the Mechanism Committee (the so-called committee for implementing the ceasefire in Lebanon), an unprecedented press conference was held for journalists accompanying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his trip to the United States.

The Zionist Illusions in the Region

The Hebrew media added: At the conference, a senior political source was asked how he planned to proceed with the demarcation of the land border between Israel and Lebanon. The question was raised against the backdrop of a legal obstacle that requires a referendum or a special majority in the Knesset to cede sovereign territory. In response to this question, the political source said: Who said we are going to cede land? Maybe we will even ask for more land.

The article continued by saying that the same source continued to boast about the five points Israel had occupied in southern Lebanon, saying that this would protect residents of northern Israeli settlements. He also praised the change that he claimed Israel had brought to the region under Netanyahu’s leadership.

Haaretz continued: But today we see that all this was a lie, and that the positions that Israel occupied in southern Lebanon not only did not bring security to the northern settlements, but also led to the expansion of threats against Israel by Hezbollah. The French explained in this context that Israel’s occupation of Lebanese territory and its refusal to comply with the provisions of the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024 were a justification for Hezbollah’s continued existence as an armed resistance organization.

According to this article, despite all this, the Israeli cabinet, which was completely confused after the events of October 7, 2023, still believed in the need for the physical presence of Israeli forces in population centers and enemy territory, and felt that by doing so, it could control the fear of residents of the northern settlements, especially the settlements of Shlomi, Matla, and Kiryat Shmona, and reduce criticism against itself.

Netanyahu’s Cabinet’s Miscalculations on the Lebanese Front and the Shock It Received from Hezbollah

The aforementioned Hebrew media outlet further stated that the aforementioned political source, at a conference held in the United States, tried to downplay the importance of the political negotiations that later failed, and ridiculed the maritime border agreement signed by the Ben-Lapid cabinet with Lebanon, saying that the agreement was not binding and that Israel would not implement it. He also proudly declared that “the use of force with overwhelming firepower” was what had pushed Hezbollah back.

Haaretz added: This source was bragging and lying, and his words were empty. The reality was that during the 15-month ceasefire, Hezbollah was reorganizing itself despite repeated Israeli airstrikes and the presence of its forces in southern Lebanon.

According to this report, we saw that after the start of the US-Israeli war against Iran, Hezbollah entered the battle very quickly, and the northern settlements of Israel (occupied Palestine) were attacked by Hezbollah missiles one after another. Also, as the Israeli occupation expanded in southern Lebanon, the army’s casualties are increasing every day, and a number of Israeli forces are killed and wounded by Hezbollah drones every day.

The article continues: Also, a year ago, when the same political source was asked about Israel’s future plan on the Lebanese front at the aforementioned conference, he replied that the attacks might continue and that we would use force to force the enemy to implement the agreement and that we could normalize our relations with more countries. The source also ridiculed the idea that the Palestinian issue must be resolved first. He proudly said that “the cabinet has achieved four peace agreements thanks to its power.”

Netanyahu’s Project and Illusions about Iran and Its Allies Collapsed

The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz stated that the latest round of Iran’s conflict with Israel proved that Netanyahu’s project and the approach he followed after the Gaza War on October 7, 2023, namely forcing countries to compromise through force and imposition of power, were in fact absurd and have been destroyed. Those who failed to understand this during the two years of the war in Gaza should have understood it with the forced end of the 12-day war in Iran.

The Hebrew media outlet noted: Those who did not understand this reality even after the 12-day war should have learned from the last war with Iran, and when the United States was forced to return to the negotiating table with Iran and faced Tehran’s resistance to adhering to its previous conditions, they understood the reality of the collapse of the project and Netanyahu’s approach.

According to the article, those who still want to deny this reality should look at the developments of the recent war with Iran and Hezbollah’s entry into the battle. In the meantime, it seems that Netanyahu still insists on not understanding this. Inside Lebanon, we also see that despite the alignment of the pro-Western Lebanese government with Israel, the Netanyahu cabinet is failing to achieve its goals against Hezbollah.

Haaretz concluded its article by emphasizing: The events of the past week have only worsened Netanyahu’s situation. This became even clearer when US President Donald Trump publicly warned Netanyahu that he was one step away from being left alone against Iran.
