PNN – The results of a new poll in the United States show that for the first time, nearly half of participants oppose supporting Israel.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; a new national poll from a US university shows that 60 percent of American voters believe the country’s military action against Iran “was not worth the cost.”
For the first time, nearly half of respondents (49 percent) said Washington supports Israel “too much,” the highest number in the university’s polling history.
The poll, conducted in late June, comes as the Iran-US war continues to have serious economic and political consequences for the Trump administration, despite the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Geneva and the partial reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The poll results indicate a significant increase in public dissatisfaction with Washington’s Middle East policies.
According to the poll, 60 percent of voters believe that the costs of the war with Iran have far outweighed its gains.
Record-breaking opposition to unconditional support for Israel
One of the key findings of the poll is the unprecedented increase in opposition to the United States’ full support for Israel. 49 percent of respondents said the United States supports Israel “too much.” This figure, a significant increase from previous polls, reflects a gradual shift in American public opinion toward Washington’s Middle East policies. Only 44 percent of voters rated the current level of support as “fair.”
The poll comes as Donald Trump’s approval rating is at an all-time low, with just 34 percent of voters approving of his job performance. With the November midterm elections approaching, Democrats are looking to use the discontent to try to regain control of Congress. Analysts say the economic fallout from the war could be the biggest challenge for Republicans in the coming election.
