Politico Examines Trump’s Biggest Miscalculation Regarding Iran

Miscalculation

PNN – Politico has highlighted the Trump administration’s greatest miscalculation regarding the conflict with Iran.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; an analytical report by Politico emphasizes that the Trump administration’s major errors and challenges in the conflict with Iran stemmed less from Iran’s military capabilities than from Washington’s misunderstanding of the priorities and motivations of Iranian officials. This very issue led to a series of miscalculations and contributed to the escalation of the conflict.

According to this report, Washington has miscalculated Tehran’s readiness to withstand pressure and losses in order to preserve the regime and achieve its strategic objectives. Iran’s missile attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan caught Washington off guard. Tehran deemed the attack a legitimate act of self-defense and described it as a response to the expansion of U.S. military operations.

Domestic political pressure on Trump to end the conflict with Iran has mounted, alongside growing concerns regarding rising energy prices, the economic consequences of the war, and its impact on the upcoming US elections.

Meanwhile, Iran believes it possesses the capacity to withstand a protracted confrontation, bolstered by the support of its regional allies and the political and economic constraints facing the US and its allies in the Persian Gulf.
