PNN – The Russian Foreign Ministry has dismissed Benjamin Netanyahu’s accusations regarding Moscow’s role in an antisemitic online campaign as baseless, suggesting that the timing of the claim is linked to the Israeli regime’s elections.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al Mayadeen, the Russian Foreign Ministry responded to accusations by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—who claimed Moscow participated in an “antisemitic” online campaign—by stating that the allegations are entirely unsubstantiated. The Ministry further noted that the timing of these claims is connected to the upcoming Israeli elections on October 27.
In a statement, the Ministry expressed regret that the issue was raised in the media on the eve of the elections, rather than being addressed through discussions between cyber-security experts from both sides.
Moscow stated that Netanyahu has alleged that Russia has launched an antisemitic campaign—utilizing networks of internet bots—to fuel anti-Israel sentiment in Western countries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that in 2018, Moscow proposed a bilateral agreement with Israel on cooperation regarding information security, but received no response. The Ministry believes that such cooperation could have prevented the emergence of these baseless issues.
Russia further characterized these accusations as part of the dissemination of misleading information, pointing to previous claims by former U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton regarding the involvement of Russian hackers in U.S. elections—allegations that Moscow described as a “big lie.”
In conclusion, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the global perspective on Israel is shaped solely by the actions and approach of the regime’s officials.
