PNN – CNN reported that a potential U.S. war with Iran has become a painful challenge for Republicans in Senate debates.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; CNN reported that Donald Trump’s conflict with Iran has emerged as a central and contentious issue in Senate election debates in Alaska and Maine, with the Republican stance on the matter intensifying political pressure on the party.
During a debate on Thursday, Susan Collins, a Republican Senator from Maine, reiterated that Trump should have consulted with Congress before initiating a war with Iran. She stated that the President ought to have kept Congress informed of his decision.
In Alaska, Republican Senator Dan Sullivan also emphasized that the war must come to an end soon. He further acknowledged that the energy costs resulting from this war are excessively high—a point of particular significance given the rising cost of fuel in Alaska.
Mary Peltola, Sullivan’s Democratic opponent, accused Washington politicians of instigating endless wars and driving up costs to staggering levels.
According to CNN, these debates have revealed that the war has become a thorny issue for Republicans—especially as the midterm elections on November 3rd could determine which party holds the majority in the Senate.
