PNN – Amid reports regarding a potential South Korean military intervention in the Strait of Hormuz, a senior Iranian official issued a strongly worded warning to the country.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; a high-ranking Iranian political-security official emphasized in an interview with Al-Mayadeen: We warn South Korea not to yield to pressure from Washington aimed at forcing it to cooperate in illegal US military operations.
He added: Seoul must not sacrifice its own interests and standing for the sake of hostile US policies directed against regional security and stability.
The Iranian official stated: South Korea is well aware that the primary cause of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is US-Zionist aggression, and it must not lose sight of this fact. Tehran regards any South Korean participation against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz as tantamount to direct military involvement in a military attack on the country.
He added: Iran will never tolerate complicity in hostile acts against its nation. As long as illegal US interventions—alongside the hostile blockade and economic war against Iran—persist, the restoration of security to the region will not be possible.
Yesterday, the South Korean presidential office stated that the country is considering various options—including military action—regarding the Strait of Hormuz, but no final decision has been made on the matter.
