PNN – A Hebrew-language media outlet claimed that Iran is activating “dormant” (resistance) cells in the Golan Heights.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Israel’s Channel 14 reported that security circles assess Iran is reviving (resistance) networks near the Golan Heights.
This report, based on an analysis by the Zionist center known as Alma—which monitors resistance activities in the north (occupied Palestine)—claims that Iran and Hezbollah continue to manage local networks in southern Syria established during the Assad era, recruiting Druze and Sunni individuals through financial incentives. These operatives are tasked with gathering security intelligence, launching rockets, deploying suicide drones, and smuggling weapons into Israel.
The claims further state that Iran and Hezbollah are rebuilding local networks in southern Syria and are also attempting to recruit Syrian Druze and Sunnis into their ranks by offering financial incentives. This was revealed this week in an analysis by the Alma Research and Education Center (which focuses on security challenges along Israel’s northern borders).
The center notes that this activity persists despite the fall of Assad in Syria.
According to this analysis, Iran and Hezbollah do not rely exclusively on Shiite operatives or the overt presence of the Revolutionary Guards; instead, they recruit local Syrians—either directly from Iran and Lebanon or through Syrian intermediaries.
This analysis follows the assassination of a Syrian national, Youssef Ali al-Hassoun, who was allegedly attempting to carry out an anti-Zionist operation in the Syrian-Lebanese border region.
In further substantiating its claims, the Alma Center has estimated that Al-Hassoun was likely linked to one of the networks active in Syria. The possibility of Hezbollah’s involvement in this operation has also been raised.
However, given the lack of strong evidence in this regard, it notes that this is a research-based assessment rather than a detail included in the statement issued by the IDF spokesperson.
