Strait of Hormuz

PNN – A British newspaper reported that Europe is considering the payment of navigation fees in the Strait of Hormuz and will likely agree to the request.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; The Guardian reported that senior British government officials believe toll systems for navigation services in certain international waterways—such as the Strait of Malacca and the English Channel—are both permissible and entirely standard practice.

The report notes that Europe is reviewing proposals that would likely authorize the collection of tolls and navigation fees in the Strait of Hormuz.

The British newspaper added that a proposal for levying tolls in the Strait of Hormuz has been drafted by Oman in collaboration with British legal experts, with a framework modeled on the toll system used in the Strait of Malacca.

Meanwhile, a deputy to British Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated that imposing mandatory tolls on the Strait of Hormuz would be disastrous.

According to the report, Oman has proposed sending its legal experts to Tehran to provide a detailed explanation of the plan.

Meanwhile, our country’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, traveled to Oman today to hold discussions with officials there regarding regional and international developments, particularly concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
