PNN – Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, announced on Sunday that the number of the company’s personnel who have returned to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran to carry out their duties has risen to 135.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Sputnik; Likhachev stated: In fulfillment of our contractual obligations, we are continuing to increase the number of our personnel at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant site.

He added: Yesterday, nine more of our employees arrived at the site to perform maintenance and repair operations on the plant’s first unit. Consequently, the number of technical and engineering staff present at the site has reached 135.

Likhachev stated that these personnel are working at all three facilities of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (one operational unit and two units under construction).

Rosatom had previously evacuated hundreds of its employees from Iran for security reasons after the United States and the Zionist regime committed acts of aggression against Iranian territory.

Speaking to Russia’s Channel One, Rosatom CEO Likhachev noted that the company is proceeding with the construction of two nuclear power units—each with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts—adjacent to the first unit of the Bushehr plant, and that the construction process is progressing.

The state-owned company Rosatom also announced that Tehran and Moscow have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation on the construction of small-scale nuclear power plants in Iran.

The memorandum was signed following a meeting in Moscow between Mohammad Eslami—Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran—and Likhachev, the CEO of Rosatom.

An implementation agreement valued at $25 billion was signed between the Iran Hormoz company and a Rosatom project subsidiary for the construction of four advanced, third-generation nuclear power units in Sirik, Hormozgan.
