PNN – A regional affairs expert highlighted the possibility of secret agreements between regional states and Iran regarding the avoidance of conflict, as well as the associated risks for the United States.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Russia’s Nezavisimaya Gazeta reported that the Pentagon and U.S. intelligence agencies are considering reducing the U.S. military presence in the region following the conclusion of a war with Iran. This move would not be limited merely to refraining from rebuilding bases damaged by Iranian retaliatory strikes; it would also entail relocating certain combat and intelligence infrastructure outside the region.
Regional analyst Anton Mardasov emphasized that the shift toward a new phase of re-evaluating tactics and strategies is partly a consequence of the war against Iran. Under these circumstances, the Pentagon is seeking to strengthen cooperation with its regional partners.
He added, however, that the U.S. faces the risk of regional powers negotiating secret agreements with Iran to avoid war and aggression. These nations are demonstrating greater independence in their bilateral relations with the U.S. and in their participation in various alignments. While this may be desirable in terms of fostering a multipolar world, it could exacerbate the situation regarding escalating tensions between certain countries and Israel.
