PNN – The Axios news website reported, citing informed sources, that the US President has told Arab and Muslim leaders that if an agreement is reached with Iran, he will pursue the path of expanding the Abraham Accords and normalizing relations between Arab countries and Israel.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; The Axios news outlet reported Sunday evening, citing two American officials: US President Donald Trump told leaders of several Arab and Muslim countries during a conference call on Saturday that he wants their countries to sign a peace agreement with Israel if an agreement is reached to end the war against Iran.
The American media added: Trump is largely seeking a historic peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel, but the current political climate in the region and the upcoming elections in Israel make any progress very difficult in the short term.
Donald Trump spoke by phone on Saturday with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain to discuss a possible deal with Iran.
Meanwhile, Ismail Baghaei, spokesman for our country’s negotiating team, stated: The nuclear issue will not be discussed in detail at this stage. Our nuclear issue has been the pretext for two aggressive wars against the Iranian people, so we have responsibly and wisely decided at this stage to prioritize and focus on an issue that is urgent for all of us, which is ending the war.
Axios continued the report, citing a US official familiar with Trump’s call with Arab leaders, saying: Trump told the leaders that he would call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the next call and stressed that he hoped the Israeli prime minister would also be on the same call in the near future.
Axios concluded the report by noting: The leaders in question, especially those from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan, which do not have formal diplomatic relations with Israel, were surprised by Trump’s request, and one American official said there was silence and Trump jokingly asked if they were still in touch.
