PNN – While the Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that no negotiations are currently taking place between Iran and the United States, Donald Trump—once again resorting to contradictory, publicity-driven rhetoric—claimed: We are only negotiating with them [Iran] on a limited basis.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; speaking to the website Axios on Sunday (local time), Trump attempted to calm the atmosphere in the U.S. and globally—following the potential repercussions of a costly act of aggression against Iran—by claiming: We are handling this matter quietly.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event “Muharram and Ashura as Reflected in Foreign Ministry Documents,” Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that no negotiations are currently taking place between Iran and the United States. He added that talks cannot resume until the U.S. ceases its violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and rectifies its breach of commitments.
The U.S. President—who has failed to achieve Washington’s objectives against Tehran on the battlefield and has simultaneously adopted a policy of “maximum pressure” and sanctions, yet whose ill-conceived war has burdened Americans with rising inflation and soaring energy and gasoline prices—claimed: We are negotiating with them only on a limited basis. We are merely keeping an eye on Iran.
Once again reiterating remarks regarding Iran’s economic situation—while making no mention of the inflation and economic woes facing his own country since the onset of the war—the U.S. President claimed: Iran is in a dire economic state, and the U.S. naval blockade has exacerbated the Iranian government’s economic crisis.
At the same time, Trump offered a promise to Americans—who are concerned about their economic well-being and rising gasoline prices ahead of the midterm congressional elections—stating that with oil prices dropping to just over $75 per barrel, American consumers would feel less of the impact of the war.
The US President also claimed: Everything will work out. It always works out. It’s like a game of chess.
Earlier on Thursday, Trump claimed that the war would end soon and an agreement might be reached.
