PNN – The U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has become a primary target of criticism from Republicans due to his handling of the highly unpopular war against Iran.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Donald Trump—head of the terrorist U.S. administration—has acknowledged that some are calling for the removal of Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of War. He noted that following the disastrous election results on Tuesday, he received numerous phone calls in which the Secretary of War’s performance was criticized.
The New York Post reports that several Republicans believe Hegseth should be removed from his post. In their view, the Secretary of War serves as a convenient scapegoat for the Republicans’ crushing defeat in the midterm elections.
Many experts believe that the negative reaction of voters to a highly unpopular U.S. war against Iran played a role in this electoral disaster.
Nevertheless, Trump continues to support Hegseth. In a conversation with Jonathan Karl, ABC News’s chief White House correspondent, he stated that he has “no intention whatsoever of removing him” and wants him to remain in his position.
In a phone call with Karl on Thursday morning, Trump said: I’m getting calls about him—you know, I don’t understand why.
Republicans believe that Trump should pin the blame for the midterm election defeat on Pete Hegseth, given that he was responsible for managing the war with Iran.
It has also been argued that Trump should dismiss Hegseth immediately; otherwise, once the Democrats take control of the Senate next year, the chances of his next nominee for the Pentagon being confirmed will be extremely slim.
In a conversation with Carl, Trump acknowledged that it would be easier to secure confirmation for a new Secretary of Defense before the Democrats take control of the Senate in January.
Pressures for Hegseth’s Impeachment
Alongside calls for Hegseth’s removal, there is also the possibility that Trump might dismiss the Secretary of Defense before he can be impeached. Thomas Massie, a Republican representative critical of Trump, hopes to initiate a vote on the impeachment of the Secretary of Defense when Congress reconvenes next week.
Some believe that an effort to impeach Hegseth could succeed—even in the current, Republican-controlled House of Representatives—as many Republican lawmakers whose terms are coming to an end might blame the Pentagon chief for their own electoral defeats.
A Republican close to the White House told CNN: If the President is truly serious about having someone take responsibility for this situation, that person is Pete Hegseth.
The Republican official added: From the very beginning, Pete has either provided incorrect information or been wrong regarding timelines, objectives, and the goals of the war—neither of which is acceptable.
