PNN – A senior Iranian security and political official emphasized that, contrary to his claims and his threatening, coercive rhetoric, Trump is seeking to return to negotiations with Iran.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the Al-Mayadeen television network reported, citing a high-ranking Iranian security and political official: Contrary to claims and threatening, coercive statements, Trump is attempting to return to negotiations with Iran.
The senior Iranian official added that Trump and the hardliners in his administration have realized that provocative military posturing against Iran leads only to failure—particularly following recent attacks, the impact and consequences of which they are attempting to conceal.
He added: Global energy markets have correctly grasped the signals sent by our field and military actions. The price of oil has reached $110 per barrel, with the potential for further increases. Our heavy strikes on U.S. bases in the region and the successful test of a new anti-ship missile serve as ongoing messages.
Elsewhere, the Al-Mayadeen report quotes the senior Iranian official as saying: The IRGC’s success in capturing an advanced U.S. unmanned submarine and the fact that the Strait of Hormuz remains open constitute further messages being conveyed. The capture of the U.S. unmanned submarine and the continued openness of the Strait of Hormuz will certainly exert a significant impact on oil prices.
This senior Iranian official also stated: We emphasize that Trump is now attempting to return to the path of negotiations and raise the ceiling [of talks] in order to slightly lower oil prices. As we have repeatedly stressed, we reiterate that negotiation will only be possible through the acceptance of Iran’s well-known conditions.
