PNN – A U.S. Congressman has called on the Department of Defense (the Pentagon) to increase information sharing with Congress, stating that the current level of transparency regarding the conflicts involving Iran and Ukraine is insufficient.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Anadolu, Mike Turner told CBS News on Sunday: I don’t think anyone is satisfied with the level of information received from the Pentagon.
The member of the House Armed Services Committee added that both the House and the Senate have formally raised concerns, insisting that the Pentagon must provide more detailed reports regarding the conflict involving Iran, the assessment of U.S. forces in Europe, and ongoing support for Ukraine.
Acknowledging that the situation regarding Iran is dynamic, Turner stated that the administration could share more information on the matter.
He also addressed recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump concerning the authorization to transfer Patriot missile technology to Ukraine.
While Trump has expressed reservations about providing this interceptor missile technology to Ukraine—citing concerns over the transfer of sensitive military technology—Turner noted that discussions regarding the authorization to supply these systems to Kyiv are ongoing.
U.S. President Donald Trump had previously announced that Washington would grant Ukraine the license to produce Patriot air defense systems.
During a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Ankara, the U.S. President announced that the United States would grant Ukraine the license to manufacture Patriot air defense systems.
Addressing Zelenskyy during the meeting, Trump said: One of the topics we will discuss is granting you the license to produce Patriots. That’s very interesting, isn’t it? That way, he can no longer complain that we aren’t providing him with enough Patriots.
The Patriot system (MIM-104 Patriot) is a mobile surface-to-air missile system designed to detect, intercept, and destroy a wide range of aerial threats, including aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.
Trump did not provide further details regarding the timeline or conditions for granting this authorization, nor the method of producing these systems in Ukraine.
