PNN – A US military official has admitted to the country’s inability to counter a massive drone attack.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Reuters, US Army General Joseph Gerrard—deputy commander of US Northern Command—responded “No” when asked whether the United States is currently capable of countering a mass drone attack on its own soil.
He added: We lack the necessary sensors, and depending on where these drones are intended to strike, we might not have any sensors available at all. We also rely on the necessary equipment to counter this threat.
Gerrard added: Therefore, we are not currently well-equipped to counter such threats. We are witnessing the use of these types of attacks—seeing them every day around the world. We need to find a way to mitigate this threat, but we haven’t reached that point yet.
He also stated: The biggest challenge right now is detecting the drones, and the method of detection is considered one of the top concerns for U.S. Northern Command.
