PNN – Trump’s vice president said that some people think that American interests are always aligned with Israeli interests, but that’s not true at all, and Trump and Netanyahu disagree on how to end the Iran war.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Clash Report, the US vice president said: Some people say that American interests are always aligned with Israeli interests. But that’s not true at all, and I see this clearly every day in our conversations.
JD Vance added: President Trump has been very clear on this. He has differences of opinion with Netanyahu about exactly how to end the war with Iran. I have always defended Trump’s decision to end the nuclear deal with Iran, and I often encounter the argument that says, ‘Israel doesn’t think it’s good, so it’s bad.’ My response is: Israel’s views matter, but they are essentially independent.
He clarified: On the other hand, I think there are some who say that Israel’s interests are never aligned with America’s interests, which I don’t think is true either. I believe the reality is that they are good partners. Just as England or France are good partners for us. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we will always have aligned interests.
The vice president continued: I think that sometimes supporters of Israel in the United States make two fundamental mistakes. The first mistake is not distinguishing between the interests of the United States and Israel, because the interests of the two countries are not always the same. The second mistake is to conflate and equate criticism of a particular government with hatred of Jews and anti-Semitism.
Vance also said: Israel, like many other countries, tries to influence American policy. I take that as an accepted fact. But American leaders have to be very careful that when they pursue something, they do it in the best interests of America, not in the interests of any other country.
