PNN – Walid Jumblatt, former head of the Lebanese Druze Progressive Socialist Party, warned in a message against repeating mistakes in the negotiations between Lebanon and the Zionist regime.

According to a report of Pakistan News Network on Friday night from Al-Mayadeen, Jumblatt wrote on the social network X: We warn against conducting negotiations for the sake of negotiations, like what happened in the Oslo Accords process.

He added: In the negotiations, we must not fall into the trap of the contradictory joint statement of the United States and Lebanon again.

Jumblatt added: We warn you to avoid negotiations for the sake of negotiations, because a part of southern Lebanon, its heritage, history and people may be destroyed, as is happening in Palestine.

The US State Department previously announced that Lebanon and the Israeli regime, following talks in Washington with US mediation, had reached an agreement to accelerate the implementation of the ceasefire and establish pilot areas under the control of the Lebanese army, areas where the presence of non-state armed groups would be prohibited.

According to the statement, the full implementation of the ceasefire is conditional on the cessation of Hezbollah activities and the withdrawal of resistance forces from south of the Litani River.

Washington has also emphasized that the future of relations between the two sides should be determined through direct negotiations under US supervision.

In the continuation of this process, it has been announced that the two sides have agreed to resume further negotiations on June 22 to reach a comprehensive agreement, and that the United States will also play the role of facilitating communications during the transitional period.
