PNN – US Senator Mark Warner, emphasizing that there was “no imminent threat” from Iran against the United States, acknowledged that the US has failed to diminish Iran’s drone and missile capabilities.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the Democratic senator from Virginia stated in an interview with CBS News on Sunday: We actually have hundreds of seriously injured people. I believe the death toll is 16. My point is that this is what happens when you start a war of choice. I can tell you unequivocally that there was no imminent threat from Iran.
Warner, the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, stated that the war against Iran was launched “without a plan” and argued: If you look at the US administration’s stated goal of regime change, [you see that] those currently in power are worse than their predecessors.
Senator Warner emphasized that “no progress” has been made regarding the US securing Iran’s enriched uranium, noting that achieving this would require 15,000 troops on the ground, yet no one wants to do that.
He added: 15,000 troops is the minimum estimate required to enter these bunkers, and extracting the enriched uranium from the containers would be extremely difficult. The Iranians would fire upon them. No one has taken action on this matter. We stated that we wanted to degrade their missile and drone capabilities. It is clear that we have not succeeded in this regard. This specifically drives me crazy, because we use $2.5 million missiles to shoot down $50,000 Iranian drones.
Regarding developments in the Strait of Hormuz and the impact of its closure on rising fuel prices in the U.S., Warner stated: Gasoline prices have once again climbed to four dollars [per gallon]; this means the price—at least in Virginia—is $1.20 higher than when the war began. There is no plan for how to keep the strait open.
