PNN – The U.S. State Department has commented on the process of withdrawing U.S. forces from Iraq.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Shafaq News; the U.S. State Department addressed the withdrawal process.
A U.S. State Department spokesperson stated that Washington is proceeding according to the timeline agreed upon with Baghdad to end coalition military operations in Iraq and is focused on completing the withdrawal of its forces by September 30, coinciding with the announced conclusion of Operation Inherent Resolve.
He added: This transfer demonstrates the growing capabilities of Iraqi security forces—including the Peshmerga—and marks a new phase in the relationship between the two countries.
The U.S. State Department spokesperson also reiterated Washington’s support for Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi’s efforts to assert the country’s sovereignty, prevent attacks within or originating from Iraqi territory, and build a partnership that serves the interests of both nations.
